A Sedna Story: Tatum O’Neal’s Drug Arrest
June 4, 2008

It’s all Monica’s fault at Astrology Mundo, getting me started again on Sedna. There she posted about Tatum’s O’Neils drug arrest. For those of us that remember, Tatum O’Neal wowed us with her Oscar awarding winning performance in the hit movie “Paper Moon” when she was only eight years old. Surely, we thought, that the child with the movie star pedigree and the talent to prove it would be a major star in the years to come.
It didn’t happen.
Tatum documents her own story of parental betrayal and abandonment and her struggles with substance abuse in her book “A Paper Life”. For all intents and purposes, Tatum appeared to have gotten a grip on the substance abuse and was living the life of upscale Manhattan housewife working on rebuilding her acting career with small roles in television. Then a terrible thing happened. Her dog died.
Let’s take a look at Tatum’s arrest. (From the comments at Astrology Mundo)
“. . . Mars always seems to figure. Mars is opposite her Saturn, which in turn has Neptune sitting on it. All of this challenges her stellium of Scorpionic planets. As Mars progresses through Leo and challenges this stellium, she is under threat of further arrests if she doesn’t treat this one as the object lesson that it is.”
Monica pointed out that the Neptune as it is moving in the heavens is a “little past” Saturn. Which indeed it is.
However:
“It is eight degrees, past that position, yes. This is how I look at it.
a.) Mars/Neptune is within orb for the opposition.
b.) Mars is in opposition to the Natal Saturn
c.) The Natal Saturn is caught in the orb of the Mars/Neptune opposition
d.) The opposition falls within the degree spread of the natal stellium.”
But the Mars transits describes the arrest. It describes the how, but it doesn’t describe the why. The why is a big one:
“Sedna is inconjunct her Venus, part of that highly charged Scorpio stellium, talking about loss, abandoment and betrayal. Tatum was arrested as the (transiting) moon opposed that stellium.”
The Scorpionic energy of multiple planets is fused into a driving force to experience intensity. Combined with the energetic of Sedna inconjunct that stellium she has no choice but to experience loss, abandonment and betrayal in a monthly cycle in an intense and driving way. As always with the inconjunct, the seesaw aspect, the energies swing from one pole to another, unable to resolve, unable to rest. Its like one of those science fiction episodes where the character is forced to relive “their crimes” within their minds as “punishment”. The dog passing setting off her search for something to relieve her pain was an external expression of her charted internal dynamics.
Tatum has a horrific childhood to live past. Both parents, mother and father abrogated their responsibilities as parents to young Tatum. If anyone’s story is a Sedna story, its hers. I, for one, will say a prayer for her tonight.
