Astro Twins

by Beth Turnage

AstroTwinsPicOne has green eyes, one has brown. One is blonde, the other brunette. One is tall, the other is average. Both are energetic, driven, and extremely communicative. Both are students in performing arts. They brood about the same things, and react the same way to disappointment. They are as close (or remembering growing up with my two sisters) or closer than sisters. They share their day like they share every planetary placement except their moon and their ascendant. For all practical purposes, they are astrological twins.

The sameness in their charts also highlights their differences. Laura, the blonde, has her moon in somber Capricorn, Vanessa in energetic Aries. When Vanessa is in the house it is like fireworks are exploding. Look at her grand cross in cardinal signs between her Moon, Mars, Mercury and Jupiter. Her energy runs around that cross with no resolution point. She’s a dance student, which is just as well because she can’t sit still. The problem comes when she tries to teach Laura dance moves on the wood floor in our small living room. I fear for their safety when Vanessa is in motion.

Both are very bright. Look at their Mercury in Aquarius. More than mentally agile, they GET it, first time. But Vanessa’s grades are a shade below Laura’s. With that Moon in Capricorn, Laura works harder at the homework, Vanessa, with all that energy, doesn’t. The only time I see Vanessa quiet is when she is reading a book, so typical of Mercury in Aquarius’ thirst for knowledge.

Laura’s relationship with me, her mother, is less volatile than with Vanessa and her mother. Laura’s moon is on my Venus, we understand each other at least. Vanessa, whose Jupiter is opposite her moon, is destined to fight with her mother. Often times Vanessa flees to our house when the tensions mount between her and her mother. Vanessa’s mother bends over backward, most times, to keep Vanessa happy. Vanessa just can’t help arguing with her. Vanessa has Virgo on the cusp of the fourth house, a daunting position. She has high expectations of her parents and they better measure up!

Both of these young women have similar challenges and lessons ahead of them. It will interesting to see how they each navigate them in the years to come.
