Astrological Analysis: Joe Biden–Veep Choice for “Change” Campaign

by

August 27, 2008

He stated that Obama wasn’t ready to be president.

Now he is Obama’s running mate in the “Change You Can Believe In” presidential campaign. Obama is quoted on his website:

“I’m asking you to believe, not just in my ability to bring about real change in Washington . . .”

Serving in the U.S. Senate for 35 years, Biden has been an insider in Washington politics longer than John McCain.

Obama’s Sun is in challenge aspect to his Neptune, an aspect that he shares with current president George W. Bush, so perhaps we shouldn’t be surprised that Obama says one thing and does another.

What about Joe Biden who now stands by a man that he declared as “not ready” to be president? What can astrology tell us?

Joe “Beau” Biden has four planets in Scorpio, his Sun, his planet of value systems, Venus, his planet of communications, Mercury, and his survival skills, Mars. His moon is in stress aspect to this collection of planets, and an unfortunate affliction that results among other things his habitual recurrence of his “foot-in-mouth” disease. Witness, his poorly played and poorly received “joke” about his wife’s doctorate degree:

“Ladies and gentlemen, my wife Jill, who you’ll meet soon, is drop dead gorgeous,” Biden said in Springfield, Ill., Saturday in his first speech as Barack Obama’s running mate. “She also has her doctorate degree, which is a problem. But all kidding aside …”

Elizabeth Joyce, a Clinton supporter from Boston, called the joke “disappointing and inappropriate.”

And so it is. With this aspect, this inconjunct, he is likely to keep saying inappropriate things. He is also likely to switch one position to the next. We would call that flip-flopping.

Hillary Clinton has been termed “divisive” to the Democratic party and she was not even seriously considered for the Vice Presidential slot, yet a side by side comparison of Biden and Clinton shows that their astrological charts are very similar. Both have a least four planets in Scorpio, sharing a Sun sign. Both have the challenge aspect of Pluto to their stellium of planets in Scorpio, which marks a drive for power. While Hillary’s sun is out of orb for the Sun square Pluto aspect, Biden’s is not, revealing a thirst for power that outstrips any Scorpio’s. His Moon is poorly aspected, while Hillary’s moon is in the compassionate sign of Pisces. So Hillary doesn’t make the cut, but Biden does. Washington insider, sexist and flip-flop artist. Just what we need for a campaign committed to “change we can believe in.”
