The badly decomposed body of Spec. Megan Touma who was seven months pregnant, was discovered in the bathtub of her motel room Sunday June 21, 2008 at 11:23 a.m. after a maintenance worker complained to his assistant manager about a “strong odor� coming from the room. Hotel workers had not previously entered the room because a Do Not Disturb sign hung on the door since June 17. Her body was so decomposed the cause of death was not immediately named. However, the condition of the room itself, with blood smeared on the walls and the furniture askew, caused the Fayetteville, North Carolina police to call the death “suspicious�.

Megan arrived at Fort Bragg on June 12, 2008, signing in at 2:00 a.m., and attended formations at 6:15 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. the next day. She then was scheduled some off time, and wasn’t due back on base for formation until June 16, 2008. She never made it to that formation.

Reports conflict as to why she was off base in the motel room, one report saying the Army put her there until suitable housing could be found, and other saying that she choose to live off base. As a recently arrived member of a Replacement Company, she was waiting reassignment, and she did not have in place the same accountability for her whereabouts that to which she was accustomed. Though the Army is investigating why Touma was not reported as AWOL after missing the June 16 formation, there is some suggestion, through comment forums, that a soldier seven months pregnant might be cut some slack if she missed a formation.

Touma would have been in the armed forces five years on July 10, 2008 and by all accounts her service has been commendable.

Megan’s awards and decorations included the Army Service Ribbon, the National Defense Service Medal, the Good Conduct Medal, the Army Achievement Medal and the Global War on Terrorism Service Medal.

Divorced in 2007 from her husband of three years, she seems to have entered into a relationship relatively quickly after the divorce. Though the army and the Fayetteville police aren’t talking, the name of a married man who was said to be dating has appeared in the comments section on Bonnie’s Blog of Crime, along with the details that Touma requested transfer so that she could be near him. In these same comments, the following is said:

Megan didn’t know he was married until he left to Bragg and he told her after he knew she was bearing his child. He told her that he was getting a divorce and she told me that he showed her the paper work saying that the divorce has been started. She put in for a request to be stationed at Fort Bragg with him. . . When he got to Bragg they would constantly fight and every other week she wanted to work things out with him! All i know is that they were fighting a couple days before she left…Apparently she had been calling him more than usual and he told her to stop calling because she was arriving in Country on Wednesday. Megan and i had Dinner together the Sunday before she left and [he] was texting her to call him and she responded “i’ll see you on Wednesday� I then went out to Dinner with her again the night before she left (10 June) and she seemed to still be fighting with him.

Though the Fayetteville police has said a fellow soldier was a “person of interest� no official details of this person is forthcoming. A fellow soldier’s house is also to have said to been searched and items removed for examination.

A bizarre aspect of this case is that a letter was mailed to the local newspaper, The Fayetteville Observer, the writer claiming responsibility for the murder, stating it was his “masterpiece� and signing the letter with the symbol associated with the so called Zodiac Killer. The same symbol is said to be written in lipstick on the mirror in Touma’s room. Police do not believe that this letter is the genuine article, but that it was sent to throw the investigation in the wrong direction.

What can astrology tell us about the death of Spc. Megan Touma?

Megan Touma was born August 26, 1984, in Seoul, South Korea according to a recent obituary. We have no birth time. The birth chart posted is for sunrise. Megan’s Sun is 3 degrees Virgo, sitting along side Mercury and Venus in Virgo. This is an individual who is precise, analytical, and organized and who appreciates the same in other people. With all that Virgo emphasis is natural that she was part of the health care profession. With that stellium in planets in friendly aspect to Saturn, which rules bones and teeth, working in the dental field fits. Her Moon is in Leo, which describes the fun to be with nature that most people have described in their memories of her. With Mars in Sagittarius, she had a freewheeling spirit. With that Mars next to Uranus, she found enticing men of different cultures and backgrounds, which explains her marriage to Touma, who was foreign born, and the man who is said to be her boyfriend, who is supposedly Latino. Despite her fun loving and free spirited nature, though, her inner core is all Virgo. She would expect things to be done just so. She would expect the man to get her pregnant would marry her.

It is inconceivable for someone with her Virgo nature to miss a scheduled formation just because she didn’t want to. After all, she signed on her arrival day at 2:00 a.m. and reported for formation just a little after four hours later. Quite a feat for a woman seven months pregnant and traveling well over twenty fours hours to get to her new location. Sadly, the reason Megan missed her Monday formation was that she was already gone. Even though the Do Not Disturb sign was noted on June 17, it is entirely possible that the weekend staff and the weekly staff did not communicate with each other on this information. This is speculation, of course. The police would have a more precise idea on her death, since her cell phone records would show when the phone stopped being used.

The transits for the weekend after she arrived has the Moon in Scorpio, Mars in Leo, the Sun, Venus and Mercury in Gemini, Saturn in Virgo, Pluto in Sagittarius, Jupiter in Capricorn, Uranus in Pisces.

In the transiting chart, Megan is represented by the Moon in Leo, in friendly aspect to the Sun, Mercury and Venus in Gemini. The Sun, Mercury and Venus aspect, describes the man, who has more than one woman, Venus in Gemini, and more than one child. Megan’s child, The Mercury in Gemini, is square to the transiting Saturn sitting on Megan’s Virgo Sun representing an unacceptable burden to the man. Transiting Pluto opposite the transiting Sun conjunct Venus indicates a drastic change in the relationship. Caught up in this configuration is Megan’s Chiron in Gemini and natal Jupiter who represents male authority figures, (the father, the husband) that are “wounded�. With Jupiter in the sign of Capricorn, a past relationship. For this reason alone, Fayetteville police need to rule out her former husband as a suspect or they might keep spinning their wheels on this investigation.

Unfortunately, with Pluto sitting on that Jupiter in the super organized sign of Capricorn, this murder was planned. This explains the lipsticked sign on the mirror, the furniture askew, red smears on the walls of the hotel room, the suspicious lack of reports of sounds of struggle and that ridiculous note sent to the local newspaper.

The transits do not rule out the baby’s father as the murderer, so appropriate to the then transiting Sun in Gemini, there are two suspects or there should be. Whoever is found to be the person who killed Megan Touma it was for the specific reason that her baby represented such a burden that it could not be tolerated. For this reason alone, this was not a murder by stranger. How sad, how tragic, how terrible.
