Astrology in Action: The “P” Word

Ever wonder why you are painfully shy? Ever wonder why you get confused by what people are telling you? Why it doesn’t ring true or make sense? Here is something you may not have considered. You are psychic.

Now, there is a line of New Age thought that we all are psychic, all feel the lines of connectivity to everything in the Universe. In the broadest sense, this is true.

However, there are those individuals that have an extra helping of this sensitivity to the point where it interferes with their daily functioning in the world. The child who is bright but shuts down in class, the adult who can not speak up in a group and thereby hurts himself professionally, the teenage from who high school years are not just difficult, but utter torture, all these individuals, all these people may have the same problem with the same cause.

Only about two to three percent of the population have this type of sensitivity, where they are perceiving an extra layer or two of reality which doesn’t mesh with the day to day that most of us experience. Worse yet, these individuals are caught in a double bind. Most do not realize that what they experience most people do not. Most, when they try to describe what they feel, are met with blank stares, labels of being “strange” or flat denials from others that their perceptions are not valid.

There are traditional markers in your chart that shows a proclivity for being psychic. Any person whose Sun or Moon is in a water sign, Cancer, Scorpio or Pisces is sensitive. If you have a collection of planets in a water sign, including either your Sun, Moon or both, your sensitivity is more pronounced. If Neptune is a signature planet or prominent planet in your chart, making any energetic connection to a personal planet, Sun, Moon, Mars, Venus, Mercury, you’ve notice that reality and your senses sometimes does not match. If any of your personal planets, but especially your Sun and Moon, is in the twelfth house, you are psychic.

So how do you deal with being psychic in a headblind world? First, you need to learn to create your boundaries. Unconsciously, you connect with everything, but in doing so you lose your sense of self. A good exercise is to meditate alone and connect with your emotional center. Don’t try to sort through your emotions, just accept them, and recognize your emotional frequency. Find out who you are when you are just with you. This may take several times to discover this, so don’t get discouraged if you don’t nail it the first time. Once you have done this, the next time you are in a group situation, feel the energies of the people around you, but then pull back to the memory of your emotional center.

The second thing you need to do is stop using your sensitivities to make judgments of how people feel about you. Some people with psychic sensitivities automatically search for people with who they connect with energetically look for an instant emotional connection. When they don’t find it, they feel it is an indictment of themselves as people. Most human beings need to take time to build significant emotional connections to others, so you really need to give them and yourself a break, and let the process happen.

Another thing to do is to let other people have their negative feelings. People have a need to thrash through their issues at their own pace and in the privacy of their own thoughts. If you feel those negative feelings don’t assume they automatically have to do with you, because most likely they don’t. Even if they do, other people have a right to have them. Again, this a reflection of who they are as people, not you, so do yourself a favor and disconnect from the negative emotions of others.

If this describes you, and you are having a difficult time sorting through all this, then its worth it to have a talk with professional astrologer or other counselor who has a good grasp of what it is to function as psychic in a “headblind” world. Once you get a handle on navigating this reality with your special qualities, you’ll start appreciating just how special you are.
