Britney: Disinterested or Distraught Mom?
October 25, 2007

The court appointed parenting coach that supervises the visits between Britney and her children has filed a damning report that alleges that Britney “lives in her own world and ignores her sons.” The coach also reported that she couldn’t teach Britney anything because Britney totally ignored her.
Yet Britney was the first to show up at yesterday’s co-parenting class with Kevin Federline and according to a TMZ report was “looking forward to discuss parenting with her ex”, though she reportedly spent time in the bathroom before the session “bawling like a baby.”
So what is the story? Is Britney a disinterested or a distraught mom?
Britney lost custody of her children for failing to drive without a California’s drivers license and not submitting to a drug test. Aside from the serious allegations of drug abuse by a man who who has every reason to trash his ex-wife, there have been no substantial allegations of abuse and neglect. For a celebrity who lives her life in a media fish bowl surrounded by so many paparazzi that she runs over or into them on a regular basis, these seems odd.
On top of that Federline’s attorney see “no quick end” to the custody battle between Federline and Spears. Indeed, William Wesley Patton’s Book “Legal Ethics in Child Custody” says:
custody and dependency proceedings can continue for years in successive court hearings until the child reaches the age of majority
One attorney had this to say about Britney’s situation:
“By going out like this she is really running the risk of losing custody of her kids. . . the judge . . can take the children away if he feels Britney is not focusing on the best interest of the children . . If I were her lawyer I would tell her to lie low, stay in the house and spend time reading to her sons and doing arts and craft projects with them to enforce learning and bonding.”
In other words, since Britney is not fulfilling standard images of maternal behavior, she risks losing custody of her children, permanently.
Britney’s moon, which signifies her maternal instinct is the highly independent and stubborn sign of Aquarius. It is making the stress aspect, the inconjunct to her Mars in Virgo. The men in her life expect her to act like the classic milk and cookies mom. But with that Aquarian moon, she just isn’t feeling it.
Furthermore, Britney has her Eris, the planet of discord, opposite her highly powerful stellium in Saturn, Pluto in Libra and Jupiter in Scorpio. Eris, is where a woman’s vision of herself and and societies’ image of her clash.
Combine that with a Sun, Mercury and Uranus in freedom loving Sagittarius, in the cooperative aspect, the sextile, with her moon and you have an individual that will not be bound by societies’ rules. Whatever Britney does, she is not going to be a June Cleaver.
Does this mean that she isn’t concerned with the welfare of her children? Well, curiously enough, this woman has the sign of the mother, Cancer, on her fourth house of the home. She would be upset about any separation from her children. So in this regard, her public image is at odds with her personal life.
What this astrologer said in a previous post still holds. It will be quite a feat for her to pull off the politically correct image of a mother concerned with the welfare of her children.
Britney’s freedom loving Sun and Moon instinctively understands the inherent unfairness of this. Britney gets that she is being held to standards that her previous lifestyle, her career and her essential essence is at odds to support.
If we remove the drug issue by Britney passing her drug test as she reportedly has done, is she still going to face the court’s scrutiny for the rest of her behavior? Or should she?
As William Wesley Patton’s Book “Legal Ethics in Child Custody” says:
Professor Martin Guggenhiem argues that a best interest of the child standard, rather than a parental rights doctrine, leads to unnecessary state intervention into family lives: “Any alternative to the parental rights doctrine empowers state officials to meddle into family affairs and base their decisions on their own values…. A best interests inquiry is not a neutral investigation that leads to an obvious result. It is an intensely value-laden inquiry. And it cannot be otherwise.
So what do you think?
