Weekly Forecast: Your Aquarius Problem

Chiron_1Chiron is a large chunk of dirty ice whose orbit lays between Saturn and Uranus. Discovered in 1977, this asteroid upended the astrological world with its gut wrenching symbolism. In Greek mythology, Chiron is the half brother of the king of the gods himself, Zeus. The child of a rape, his mother rejected him because of his half beast form. Chiron raised himself, becoming learned in many arts, including the healing arts, and many Greek heroes were foster sons of the Centaur. Immortal by nature, Chiron gave up his life when he suffered an excruciatingly painful wound that would not heal.

Chiron’s position in our chart area of intense hypersensitivity that pries away at the defensive layers we build around our self awareness. We build these layers so that we can go about the business of living without being too fearful of the outcome. But too many of these “bandages can keep us from moving forward in our development. We can get stuck, in a life role, or a job, or a marriage in which does not serve our need to grow as a individual. We get stuck, so to speak, in our Saturn, the planet of form and structure. The next leap, without Chiron, is Uranus, the planet of our individuality, where we are to discover our unique nature. This is quite a leap for most people. Chiron appeared as the emissary to help bridge the two energies.

The Aquarian Paradigm

February 3, 2008
AquariusAquarian energy, and the energy of its ruler, Uranus is not well understood, though it has been present with us since our very beginnings as a species:

Aquarius (the Water Bearer) is one the oldest known constellations and has not changed much in appearance. It is one of the astrological constellations. Not very much is known about the mythology of Aquarius other than he ruled over much of the sky known as the ‘Sea’ in ancient Babylon. The ‘Sea’ included the constellations of Capricorn the ‘Goat- Fish’, Eridanus, Hydra and Cetus. It is not by accident that the Sun passes through Aquarius during the rainy season. Aquarius was the forebear of floods and the spring rains.

Either by human accident or cosmic design, our earliest understanding of this symbol was lost, leaving us to cast about for the meaning the Waterbearer in our charts. Consequently, we are left with a hodgepoge of associations. Aquarius is at once group oriented but individualistic, innovative, yet inflexible, friendly, yet has problems with intimacy, magnanimous yet demanding, scientific, yet unpredictable, progressive, but stubborn.

Unarmed and Dangerous: The Aquarian in Your Life

January 22, 2008
AquPic.jpgWhy did the Aquarian cross the road?

a.) To make you ask why.
b.) Because no one else has (chickens don’t count.)
c.) There’s a sparkly thing there that has caught the Aquarian’s eye.
d.) All of the above

And none of the above. Honestly, no one, not even an Aquarian knows the reason for the things they do. Ruled by wonky Uranus, the only planet in our solar system that spins on its side, Aquarians are prone to unpredictable urges. This makes them a danger to themselves and others. But, we don’t have enough places to put away slightly one twelfth of the planet’s population, so we live with them, albeit by wrapping them in crime scene tape.
