The Creative Process Described Through Astrology

CreativityOver at Big Sky Astroblog, April Kent started a discussion about happiness and the creative process. Those of us that blog astrology identify ourselves not only as astrologers but as writers as well, drawn into the creative process as much as another writer, musician, visual or performing artist.

Just what does spark the creative process? What makes a writer a poet, a musician a talented flutist, a visual artist a painter?

Astrologers generally check three things on the issue of creativity, the fifth house, the planets in the fifth house and the ruler of the sign on the fifth house.

Horoscope Analysis: If Other People Weren’t So Annoying…

I love your website. I’m reading back on all the archives. I want to take advantage of your free reading for a specific question: regarding my career path. I’ve been a stay at home mom to 3 wonderful kids for 13 years. My oldest is 13 and youngest is 8. I want to get back on a career path but two years ago I tried and it turned out to be a little too early for us, especially by youngest - and I’m not sure I want to stay in the same career as my degree (Urban Planning). So is this a good time to start on a career path again and if so what career? My husband wants me to join him on his real estate ventures (website and sales) but I’m not sure (I see that as his ‘thing’) I feel so stuck and don’t know why.

You feel stuck because transiting Saturn is sitting smack dab on your stellium of Virgo planets in your eight house, literally holding you in place as you struggle over the issue whether or not you can handle a career and your responsibilities at home. You are well aware that there is nothing quite so challenging as juggling home and career, especially when an individual has strong drives to excel at a career, as you do. Yet, with the planet of change opposite your natal Pluto, you feel the need to make a change in your life. And with your restless moon in Gemini, you feel the need to do what you have to do quickly. Take it from a woman who has two out of four still at home, it is possible to work a career in concert with your home responsibilities.

I was wondering what house a person should look at for career or natural talents?

The natural career path is indicated in four houses.

Natural talents, creative gifts, the fifth house
The working environment, the sixth house
How you earn your money, the second house
Career drives, the tenth house

You have two strong planets in your tenth house, Mars in Taurus and Pluto in Gemini. With a tenth house Saturn, you want to be in charge of your working environment, with Mars you have a capacity to work long and hard hours in your chosen profession. Self employment is definitely an option.

The second house cusp in the sign of Virgo. You can earn your money in a helping profession. Also, Pluto resides in the second house in the sign of Libra, opposite Mercury. Mercury rules the communication professions. In addition, Jupiter in Capricorn is involved in a t-square with Pluto and Mercury. I believe it signifies that writing is part of long transformative process of soul growth and will be a part of any career you choose.

The Sun, your instinctive drives is in the sign of Pisces. Your natural desire is to help and in the eighth house, to help in matters of digging deep into the unconscious.

You would do well in profession such as counseling that will help satisfy your natural urge to help people. This counseling can be in a traditional way, or a non-traditional way such as a psychic counselor.

A process will begin in the fall of next year. when transiting Pluto will trine your natal Venus that will help you define and realize your career ambitions. You might find the resources denied you before will become available and you’ll be able to pursue higher education to further your goals.
