Horoscope Analysis: Rob Lowe’s Servant Problem
April 12, 2008

Rob Lowe has decided that the best defense is a good offense when in comes to a battle with former employees. Rowe alleges that one employee demanded a million and half dollars by April 11, or she would go to the press with her story of an alleged affair and sexual harassment. In response, Lowe filed a million and half dollar lawsuit against his former nanny and posted a blog post on Huffington Post explaining the reason for his action.
Lowe is gun shy, having scandal damage his career before. In 1988 he was caught on tape having sex with two women he met in a bar, one of whom was underage. Eventually he went into rehab for alcohol and sex addiction and says he has maintained his sobriety for eighteen years.
However, it is unusual for Hollywood celebrities to file lawsuits against former employees. Lowe’s lawyer says this about the situation:
“You either succumb to their request or you fight back, and I think Rob felt that it was appropriate to, when improper things are said about him, to fight back.
Is this the right tactic for Rob Lowe to take? What can astrology tell us about the situation?
Lowe started his modeling career at the age of eight, and by the age of 12 had worked in thirty plays. Being cast in The Outsiders in 1983 and St. Elmo’s Fire in 1985 placed him with the Brat Pack of Hollywood. Of these years, he says:
When I was young and crazy, I was young and crazy. It can be hard enough just to BE in your teens and 20s. Then add fame, money, access, and every single person telling you that you’re the greatest person who ever was, and it can be a recipe for disaster. Some people literally don’t survive it
It took a while for Lowe’s career to rebound after the 1988 sex scandal, but he worked steadily in the nineties in movies, eventually landing the role of Sam Seaborn in The West Wing in 1999. He describes being cast as lawyer and presidential advisor as role he fell for “as if I fell for a woman.” His father was a lawyer and Lowe is often cast as one, playing a lawyer in the TV series, Brothers and Sisters.
Attempting a rectification of Lowe’s chart proved more difficult than usual because of a lack of specific dates listed in various biographies. However, his facial structure has the classic features for an Aries ascendant, according to the book “How to Rectify a Birth Chart” by Laurie Efrein. These include a triangular face, a long pointed chin, eyebrows close to the eyes and a thinnish lips. These seems like a good place to start. Putting the Ascendant at 0 degrees Aries also puts Capricorn, the sign of lawyers and politicians on the house of public image, the tenth. It also places Venus and the Moon in the second house of resources in the money conscious sign of Taurus. Neptune, the planet of addictions is placed in the eighth house of sex opposite his Moon/Venus combination.
Thanks to TMZ we have time-stamped documents of the lawsuits, 12:48 PM, April 7.
Casting a chart for that time shows that the moon of that day is conjunct the moon in Rob Lowe’s chart. The moon is often known as a “trigger” for an event. With the precipitating allegation of extortion, this transiting moon in Lowe’s second house represents the money called for in the lawsuit.
Most notable the planet of transformation, Pluto and planet of the unexpected, Uranus sits in the sixth house of people who work for you. This combination forms an out of sign opposition to Lowe’s natal Saturn, and transiting Saturn sits on the Pluto/Uranus conjunction. This heavy combination denotes burdens brought through the unexpected actions of employees. Pluto here shows the issue of betrayal of trust brought by servants.
The lawsuit against his employees was unexpected, a response to the unexpected actions of his former employees. Transiting Uranus sits on top his Mars in Pisces in the twelfth. As mentioned before, Mars in the twelfth is a double edged sword, at once stirring up hidden enemies and by your own actions, being your own worst enemy. It is a position where you don’t see your enemies coming, and are blind sided by their sideswipes. But Lowe’s response is heavy handed, fueled by a sextile to the planet of expansion and legal issues, Jupiter. But this self same transiting Jupiter is in challenge aspect to his natal Jupiter. Add to this Pluto crossing into the house of public image, and this a lawsuit that will do more harm than good. Whether or not Lowe feels the actions of his former employees pose a threat to him, the fact is the public at large will not be sympathetic to his claims of damage to his reputation or his protests of innocence.
In July of this year, new details will come to light that will place a heavier burden on the popular actor. Unfortunately, this is one situation that will not work out as he hoped.
