Horoscope Analysis: “Shocking Death of Toddler by Dehydration”

The 39 year old woman who was called “Grandma” by the toddler who died in her care was charged yesterday with manslaughter, cruelty to persons, and risk of injury to a minor. Twenty-three month old Amari Johnson was pronounced dead upon arrival at Yale New Haven Hospital on February 26 of this year at 6:56 AM after spending more than week in the care of Sharon Patterson and her brother Robert Patterson, who was also charged with cruelty to persons and risk of injury to a minor.

According to Sarah Hicks, she left her son, Amari Johnson, in the care of Peterson, when she was sick with a fever and tonsillitis. Struggling to care for herself and another infant, she left her son in the care of her long time friend.

Sharon Patterson paints another picture:

. . . she watched Amari for two weeks in February, and that it wasn’t the first time Hicks dropped him off because she wanted to party.

While in Sharon and Robert Patterson’s care, Amari was deprived of all liquids, ostensibly to punish him for bed wetting. More bizarrely, glasses of water laced with hot sauce were left around the apartment to discourage the child from taking liquids. Sharon Patterson admitted to the police to smoking marijuana and drinking the day before Amari’s death.

According to the arrest warrant affidavit, Sharon Patterson said she was frustrated with Hicks for not coming by and checking on Amari or bringing him any clothes or food. “She was planning on depriving Amari Jackson of liquids for a week and didn’t realize that Amari could get sick by dehydration,” the document said.

Patterson previously lost custody of four children because of drug addiction.
Heartbreakingly,

Robert Patterson told police that the boy cried for his mother when he began staying with him and his sister, but “towards the end of his stay Amari was crying for something to drink.”

What can astrology tell us about the brief life and shocking death of this child?

Stephen Forrest says of technique of locating an unknown birth time, known as rectification:

you know that big changes tend to happen for people when there are major transits, progressions, and arcs to the four Angles of the chart—the Ascendent, the Descendent, the Midheaven, and the astrological Nadir.

It is striking then that with moving a possible time of birth from sunrise to a couple hours before dawn, Amari’s chart has the planet of transformation, Pluto in the birth position at the top of his chart opposing his natal Mars. Pluto moves slowly, so it is not but a few degrees from the birth position, and transiting Mars comes again and takes a hit at Mars in the birth position. Here Mars is in Gemini opposite Pluto, eerily forecasting harm at the hands of two people. It also indicates that Amari knew the Patterson’s home as a “second” home environment, one where he experienced problems in the past, but at his age was unable to protest.

Jupiter in the sky was in challenge aspect to Jupiter in the eighth house, the house ruled by Pluto. Jupiter at the birth position is in challenge aspect to Sedna, at 20 degrees Taurus in the second house. Sedna in second indicates that parents withhold appropriate resources to care for the child.

Transiting Venus and Mercury, the brother and the sister, sit on Amari’s Chiron in the zodiac sign of Aquarius. Chiron in Aquarius is a position where the native is isolated by virtue of not fitting into the social environment. Amari was targeted for abusive treatment because he did fit the expectations to the people who were taking care of him.

His Moon in Leo is opposite his Neptune in Aquarius, and he was so young, transiting Neptune didn’t have a chance to move off this position. Substance abuse was a factor in his death, because the people responsible for crafting his home environment were too preoccupied with their addictions to pay attention to his needs.

Both Sharon and her brother Robert will see jail time for their neglect. Unfortunately, Justice does not redress the loss of an innocent life at such a tender age.
