Is Hillary “Presidential” Enough?
January 3, 2008

Democratic frontrunner Hillary Clinton is running neck and neck with Barack Obama in the polls for the Iowa Caucus. While not an election for a political office, the Caucus elects the representatives that go to the Iowa Convention that then elects the delegates for the National Convention. Since Iowa is the first caucus, it is considered a crucial point to win in the chess game of the National Election for president. With Hillary losing and Barack gaining ground, the question is asked “Does Hillary have the right stuff to be be president?”
Thanks to the work of Dan Ciubotaru at Ascella Astrology Consulting Services we have a study that we can use to measure how the presidential hopefuls stack up to past presidents. As in any astrological study the results are not what you expect. Fifty two percent of past presidents have a Chiron/Juno connection either by conjunction (sitting with each other), opposition (tension aspect), sextile (opportunity), square (challenge), or trine (harmonious connection.) Dan Ciubotaru says of this combination:
Chiron is an asteroid which indicates the guide and the bridge between old structures (Saturn) and new ones (Uranus). Juno is about relationships and partnerships. This combination, Chiron - Juno, show us a person which has strong abilities to use ability to make parterships for promoting an idea or to make a change. It also show us that a person with this aspect is also helped by others to become a leader and to open new doors and perspectives. All presidents that made history are having an aspect between Juno and Chiron: starting with George Washington , continuing with Thomas Jefferson, Andrew Jackson, Dwight Eisenhower, Richard Nixon, George HW Bush, Bill Clinton and not finally George W Bush.
Of the three democratic frontrunners, Clinton, Obama and Edwards, only Mrs. Clinton has this combination in her chart. In addition, of the top eighteen combinations of aspects, Mrs. Clinton has seven of eighteen aspects, while Obama and Edwards have only five of eighteen aspects each. While quantity in and of itself may not make one more “presidential” than others, curiously, the chart of the presidential election itself shows a prominent Uranus/Saturn opposition, calling for someone who can bridge the old and the new. In addition Pluto and Venus sits at the corner of a perfect T-Square with transiting Saturn and Uranus. Though this is a difficult combination, a T-square is all about making relationships work. Mrs. Clinton’s chart has Mars, Pluto and Saturn in a loose trine with this Pluto/Venus combination. She has the drive, (Mars), power base (Pluto) and experience (Saturn) to bring divergent and competing interests together.
By no means is the path to the presidency going to be a romp for Mrs. Clinton. She has a long hard road in front of her even though, in this astrologer’s opnion, the chart of the Democratic convention shows her to take the nomination. As far as the election, looking at the aspects, it really is “too close to call”.
Below is a chart of the Iowa Caucus. The State of Iowa chart is the middle, Hillary’s is the middle and today’s transits are the outer wheel.

I do not think Hillary Clinton can bridge the old with the new only Barack Obama can do that as evidenced by the diverse crowds he draws. Clinton is too tied to special interest groups. However, you are the astrologer and we shall see. However, I am going on intuition.

Thanks for the comments. I have to apologize for our funky spam filter that is relegating every comment to the spam pile. I just went through it and pulled out your comments.
When Bill Clinton was elected President just sixteen years ago. he was seen as the Washington outsider, the new boy in town that the town didn’t want. Hillary was trounced for refusing to play the traditional wifey role. How things have changed that we see Hillary as the Old Guard.
Yet Hillary is of my generation, the generation of women that was the vanguard of women’s changing role in society. Many young women today will never hear the things we heard: that the promotion went to the man because he had a family to support, or to have an employer ask what birth control we use, or just have it assumed that we couldn’t do the job as effectively as a man because of what women like Hillary have achieved. We demanded control our to reproductive lives, the right to have credit in our own name, to be paid the same wages as men (we are still fighting that one) and to have the same rights to job advancement as our male colleagues. Unlike our mothers and grandmothers in World War II who just went home when they were told, we stood and fought hard battles to be given an equal place in society.
Before we throw away the years of experience that Hillary has garnered as “old thinking”, let’s recognize her and her generation’s contributions to the freedoms we as women enjoy today. Let’s also realize that the journey is not yet complete and we still have a way to go.

Julie, it appears your intuition was more correct than many astrologers’ predictions from the contenders’ charts. I have a feeling that astrologers’ biases allow them to see mostly what they want to see. They zero in on what backs up their “hunches” and ignore what doesn’t. The astrologer’s bias is usually evident in the reading.
