Moon Sign Astrology: Red Lights, Green Lights

by Beth Turnage

September 17, 2008
As a child did you ever play “Red Lights, Green Lights? It was a silly little game where there was one person who was “it” who had his or her back to the other players and called out either “Green Lights” for people to advance, or “Red Lights” to make the other players stop in their tracks. Usually, how fast the caller belted out the signals determined the hilarity of the game, with people falling down or into each other in their rush to get to the caller.

As it turns out the Universe has its own version of “Red Lights, Green Lights” and everyone has their own personal game each day. Debbie Kempton-Smith wrote about it in her classic book “Secrets From a Stargazer’s Notebook.” It is so simple, most astrologers forget to remind us about it, and so easy that you can play it without the assistance of an astrologer. We are talking zodiac moon sign astrology. This is how it works.

When the moon comes into the zodiac sign that matches the position of the sun on the day of your birth, what most people refer to as your sign (as in “What’s your sign, Sugar?”) this is your power day. On the two days of the month were the moon occupies the same zodiac sign as your natal sun, you can expect things to flow smoother for you, people respond more positively, and think you are more attractive. Got a request to make of a higher up? Try it on your power day. Want to ask someone out on date? Try your power day. Even if things should go badly for you, (because there are other planets out there that have something to say about your day) it won’t go as badly as it could. On the other hand, when the moon is in the sign of opposite of that of your sun, this is your day to lay low and not make major initiatives. Should you be forced by circumstances to do something major on this day, prepare ahead for any contingencies.

If you want to go further, you can look at the days when the moon makes the easy energetic connection known as the trine to your sun, where you can expect to have things a little easier or the friendly energetic connection known as the sextile. The sextile lets you know you have the go ahead if you take the opportunity to make it work. The challenge aspect, known as the square is a blockage that take work to clear.

Visit this site for an ephermeris of the moon to check when your power day will roll around for you. Can read those squiggly lines? Then it is off to an astrology class or astrologer for you after all.
