New Astrological Discoveries: A Reader Asks About Her Sedna
I happened upon your article on the web for Sedna in the chart, houses 1 through 6, Sedna in my chart is in my 9th house, but I could not find your interpretations of this on the web.
I was born May 10, 1953, 12:03 pm noon in New York city. I am very deeply interested in Sedna and what her placement means in my chart, our stories are very similar.
If you have a moment, I would greatly appreciate your telling me what Sedna in the 9th house means, and the fact that she is so close to my moon and venus as well.
Thank you,
Interestingly, when I pulled up photoshop to give Sedna a new graphic, I immediately ran into problems. Sedna, it seemed, was stubbornly determined to keep black and white as her colors. It was only until I hit upon an icy blue reminiscent of her home in the Artic waters did she relent. She fought off definition at each rendering of the glyph, vague and ill defined against the background. As I struggled for a readable glyph, the image emerged of a Sedna bubbling just under the waters, churning beneath the topmost lens of the first layers of water that sunlight hits, air bubbles trailing up from behind her. This is so descriptive of the planetary energies of Sedna.
I have defined Sedna as the blind spot in our charts, the hole in our soul. It is the place where even when we look closely we lack the capacity to fully understand her influence in our lives. It is an area where our parents, most notably our fathers, have failed to instruct us. It is the place were we are stumbling around in a room full of furniture, with the lights offs. Ouch!
Sedna in your chart is at 24 degrees Aries, sitting 9 degrees away from your Venus/Moon combination. She is directly opposite a potent Saturn/Neptune combination that seems to lie at the heart of the interpretation of your chart. As I said before, understand the core issues of the chart, then add Sedna to it.
Saturn represents the father and Neptune represents illusions and disappointments. Things were not what they seemed with Daddy, and for whatever reason, whether or not he was a physical presence in your life, he certainly “wasn’t there” for you. Since these two reside in your third house of communications and short journey’s Daddy was two busy with his own business, monkey or otherwise, to have much time for you. This is confirmed by a stress aspect from Neptune/Saturn to your Sun in Taurus.
Sadly, the problems with your early home life have presented difficulties for your throughout your life. To maintain the fiction of the “happy home” and how “good” your parents were, your sense of balance in relationships was stripped from you even before you had a chance to form one. You learned early on that women didn’t have a right to expect much from a man, and you had to pay a price for being with one. You learned the only way to be in a relationship was to give too much in return.
Your Venus and Moon in Aries in the ninth indicates a need for independence and adventure. You hate to be told what to do. Having not learned the art of negotiation, you do what you think you should until you reach the breaking point. Then you run off and do what you want, leaving the other people in your life wondering what went wrong.
Sedna in the ninth talks about having an inadequate environment to develop a moral center. I’m not saying that you are inherently immoral. What I am saying is that the damage from not having a secure place to make valid perceptions about the motives of others has hampered your ability in decerning them. This leaves you open to manipulation in many ways. It is a lot to work through and I hope that you have secured professional help to do so.
Of course, a full examination of your chart is outside the scope of this column, so I hope I have answered your question.
Good Luck,
Beth
