Political Astrology: Obama, Hillary, Strange Bedfellows and Cake
November 14, 2008
Some of us that spent way too much time analyzing the 2008 election were puzzled by Hillary Clinton’s withdrawal from the Democratic nomination process and even more befuddled by her endorsement of Barack Obama. Sure, everybody loves a rock star, except for Hillary, who made no bones about his lack of experience, until she retraced her position. Wasn’t she a scrappy Scorpio? Wouldn’t she just fight to the bitter end? Why would Democratic insiders lead her to water and not allow her to drink?
Astrologically, as well, Mrs. Clinton’s chart talked about a rise to power. For instance for the announcement night of the Democratic Convention, Mrs. Clinton’s Pluto sat smack dab on the moon of the announcement chart, bolstered by Mars and Saturn on either side. This is not a portent of being shoved aside, ignored by her party. In fact, it argues very forcefully that powerful people within the Democratic party wanted her in place. So what gives?
Waking up this morning, the news greeted us with this:
CHICAGO (Reuters) - Sen. Hillary Clinton emerged on Thursday as a candidate to be U.S. secretary of state for Barack Obama, months after he defeated her in an intense contest for the Democratic presidential nomination.
Andrea Mitchell(see video) for NBC News broke the story late last night, citing that she had two trusted sources from Obama’s transition team for this information. She also added that while there were other names under consideration, once leaking Clinton’s name, to pass her over for the position would “be awkward.”
Though to some to this might seem like another case of politics making strange bedfellows, other people see this as a savvy political move.
Analyst Paul Light of New York University’s John Brademas Center for the Study of Congress said picking Clinton would mean Obama was serious about reaching across the party divide.
This announcement comes under the aegis of yesterday’s full moon inconjunct Pluto. Inconjuncts are the sidewinder aspect, where things you can’t believe come to light. Indeed. It seems that the Democratic Party leadership has found a way to have their cake and eat it too.

Update: WASHINGTON (Reuters) - New York Sen. Hillary Clinton has accepted an offer from President-elect Barack Obama to become U.S. secretary of state, joining her former Democratic rival to help guide U.S. foreign policy, the New York Times said on Friday.

Hi Beth!
Well said–I too thought Mrs. Clinton’s failure to rise to power was a bit off, as it seemed to me astrologically likely–but this certainly answers that, doesn’t it? Though I can’t say it’s as good as being president, it positions her to be almost unassailable, in terms of experience, should she run in the future. Thanks for putting all the pieces together!

Perhaps she wasn’t “shoved” aside in the nomination process. She did fight until the “bitter end”. The bitter end for her was late August in Denver. With Mars and Saturn involved, a lesson had to be learned on Hillary’s part before ascension can happen. Maybe she’s supposed to ascend, but not as President…
