Riding the Pluto Express

Come on up! cries the carnival huckster. “This the best ride of all! Do you want to know real danger? Do you want to know the mysteries the universe? The secrets of the occult? . . .Or just the secrets of your neighbors? Do you want to know the joys of sleazy sex? Obsessive love? Secret love affairs? Addiction? Step right up and take a ride on the Pluto Express!

Who can resist this? No, this isn’t a rhetorical question. Literally, when Pluto is a theme in your life, “Resistance is futile. Swept into the tides of a Plutonian experience, there is a sense of having lost all control of the events around you. The structures that kept you safe, a parental relationship, a love bond, a marriage, your long time job, dissolve and disappear, living you naked, vunerable and alone in the world. You have, what? Nothing? Or your core identity, your spiritual self. This is the lesson Pluto wants to teach us, that when all is said and done, you still have what is left, the true center of yourself. This is who you are.

The keyword for Pluto is “transformation”. The sign Scorpio is ruled by this planet. Think of any Scorpio you know. These folks live a life surreally aware of the impermanence of the world, of the vastness of the universal experience, and a sure and certain sense that everything will be taken away from them. All Scorpios live a life of perpetual transformation. The only thing that keeps them going is their incredible stubborness and will power.

When Pluto makes an energetic connection by transit to your sun or moon sign, you start living your life like a Scorpio. Sunddenly the world is fraught with dangers you’ve never seen before. Or your sense of danger is magnified. The job gets horrid, your marriage seems insane, the financial situation become impossible and nowhere does there seem to be safe port in the storm. As you thresh through the issues of your core identity you may feel that you’ve lost more than you gained. You may try to flee, either to another place, your marriage, your job or into the arms of a forbidden love. Rarely, you will find that conditions are better. They are just the same or worse!

Pluto in energetic connection to Venus means you need to work on your attitudes about your value system. It can be about your religious beliefs or your attitude towards work and money, or your family.

Connections with Mars means you will be working on how you take action. Sleazy and dishonest actions will be uncovered. In extreme cases, there is a danger of incarceration. Whether or not you feel it justified, your actions will be evaluated and criticized.

Pluto/ Mercury connections show you were your communications lack or are perceived to lack honesty. You will be called upon to walk the walk and talk the talk. Are you up to the challenge?

Rarely does anyone feel like a Pluto transit was just what they needed. Sometimes, there is an emotional scare that lasts forever. In the battle for your soul, the Universe takes no prisoners. Transform, or else!

This coming Saturday, we’ll be talking about the Plutonian love relationship, “When It Feels Like Fate
