Sedna: The Blindspot in Your Life

by Beth Turnage

SednaPlanet

You are traveling down the highway, looking to make a lane change. You check, everything looks clear, and then you nearly crash into another car traveling in your blindspot!. Where did that car from? It was there all along, you didn’t see it, couldn’t see it. This is how Sedna works in your chart.

Discovered in 2003, Sedna is a new dwarf planet that has not been defined in the astrologer’s lexicon. This astrologer has been working with it in charts and the above is the conclusion I’ve come to.

Sedna, extremely slow moving relative to School House Earth, has only traversed two signs in living memory. This means that all people alive today either has Sedna in the sign of Aries or Pisces. As such her power is in aspect to your planets or by house position.

Much of human behavior is learned. Sedna in your chart is where your parents or other caretakers failed to teach, leaving you with a spot in your life where it is like you are walking around in the dark, stumbling into the furniture.

As a preliminary definition, this is how Sedna appears to work with personal planets, especially in the hard aspects.

Sedna/Sun–You have difficulty understanding why you can’t find your “place” in the world. Your ego drives seem to miss the mark over and over again, where you either go too far, or not far enough in achieving personal goals.

Sedna/Moon–You have difficulty understanding what it takes to build reciprocal intimate relationships in which you give and get emotional support in equivalent portions. You end up with giving more than you should and don’t ask for support when you need it. You may have difficulty forming and sustaining intimate relationships outside the family you grew up with, but you don’t understand why you never “found the right one.”

Sedna/Venus–You have difficulty in understanding what you can expect in terms of financial support. You let your partner slide on the bills, taking them on yourself, then wonder why you are in debt all the time. Or your partner has a primary control over the finances, and you are left with your nose pressed against the window, scrambling to find a way to finance the things you want and/or need.

Sedna/Mercury–You have difficulty understanding your own thought processes. You think that you are not as smart as the rest of the kids in the schoolroom when you are probably the brightest one there. You are hesitant to express your viewpoint, afraid that you will not be understood. Because of your brain confusion about this issue you rarely are.

Sedna/Mars–You have difficulty understanding legitimate ways to defend yourself. No one taught you how, or punished you for doing so. As a consequence you either go far or not far enough in making sure you are protected from the “slings and arrows of outrageous fortune.”

Of course, we have a long way to go to understanding everything about Sedna and you can help. Click on to link below and take a survey about what you consider to be the blind spots in your life, so we can better define how this sneaky little transplutonian dwarf planet operates in our lives.

[...] Now, Beth has taught me about the planetoid Sedna, which wasn’t on my radar at all. According to her blog, it was discovered earlier in this century (code for I’m too lazy to look it up right now, but 2004 I think). She’s even doing a study on how Sedna affects peoples’ lives. You can read more about it here and in Beth’s comments on my Tatum O’Neal post. http://www.astrologyexplored.com/sedna-the-blindspot-in-your-life/ [...]

  7. Monica Says:

Speaking of the planetoid Sedna, it reminds me a little of Silda, the first name of Eliot Spitzer’s wife. I wonder where the former First Lady of New York State has Sedna in her astro chart. Since Merc is retro, maybe I should revisit that issue. I saw Spitzer’s photo on the back page of the New York Observer today on the train. Evidently, he’s going back to the family real estate business. But how will his wife heal her wounds? Do tell, Beth!
