Soul Development and the Planets, pt 2

Yesterday we discussed the inner planets and their relation to soul development. We pick up the discussion with Uranus.
Uranus is the planet of the wild, the unpredictable, of shocks and upsets. How then is Uranus related to soul development?
The beginner soul may live a number of lives in a state of confusion and ineffectivenes, . . . Less developed souls are inclined to surrender their will to the controlling aspects of human society with a socio-ecomonic structure which causes a large prorportion of people to be subordinate to others. The inexperienced soul tends to be stiffled by a lack of independent thinking. They also lean towards being self centered and don’t easily accept others for who they are. pg 127, Journey of Souls
Uranus, then, points the way to develop independent thinking and through acceptance of our differences, tolerance for others.
Ethereal Neptune is the planet of the highest vision of ourselves, our dreams and illusions. The positive energy of Neptune is difficult to access for many people. Addictive behavior is Neptune’s most potent expression in its negative form. Though not its exclusive function, Neptune marks those life choices that “challenge [the] weakness of soul character”.
[These] are souls who easily fall into addictive habits with certain types of body chemistry. Why do they ask for these bodies? They do it for practice. Any obsessive mood-altering behavior is a fix and [these souls] are determined to conquer this before moving on.
Pluto is the planet of transformation. At times if we don’t “get” the message of the previous planets, Pluto is the last ditch effort to drive the message home. Barbara Hand Clow in her book “Chiron, Rainbow Bridge Between the Inner and Outer Planets” notes that “there are very negative results if we resist the major life transits and do not evolve. . . .There are other ways to work with the problem, especially utilizing Pluto square Pluto. But it is just so much easier to do the work at the time of the transit.”
Often Pluto work through transits involve the very frightening reality of the dissolution of structures we come to depend on for our sense of security. We are stripped of everything but our essential natures. During a Pluto transit we ask “Who am I?” and “Why am I here?”
The key to growth is understanding we are given the ability to make mid-course corrections in our life and having the courage to make necessary changes when what we are doing is not working for us. By conquering fear and taking risks, our karmic pattern adjusts to the effects of new choices. pg 51, Journey of Souls
The planets are the signposts of our soul development They are like breadcrumbs on a trail, not the causitive factor. I call astrology “The Language of God” because it is through astrology that the patterns and plans for our earthly life are revealed.
