The Astrology of Sedna: Houses Seven through Twelve

Sedna_ArtWe continue our first look at Sedna in the Houses continuing where we left off, at the cusp of the seventh house of partnerships. To find your Sedna position, go here and look up the date closest to your birthday.

Sedna in the Seventh–Understand that the concept of partnership is formed in the early years by a having a bonded relationship with a parent. The parent has one contract, to nurture the child, the child another, to grow up into a productive human being. Somewhere along that developmental tract, those contracts were voided and as a result, your sense of partnership is seriously skewed. Either you abrogate your responsibilities to your partner or you take on way too much of the work of the relationship. If you end up in therapy over your relationship, listen to your therapist very carefully, because they understand what you need to do better than you.

Sedna in the eight house, Sedna in aspect to Pluto- This is a position Freudians would love to explore. Your parents failed to establish appropriate parent/child boundaries, treating the you as an extension of their needs. Either you were treated in some way as a meal ticket, or inappropriate sexual content/tensions colored your interactions with them. You have a vague sense that normal people don’t act like this, but like all young victims of abusive relationships think you did something wrong so that mommy or daddy didn’t love you in the right way. Having learned from the best, you can be very manipulative. Many of you, fearing that something is wrong with you, steer clear of serious relationships.

Sedna in the Ninth House, Sedna in Aspect to Jupiter–The value of education and/ or higher philosophies was never imparted to you. In some respects, you weren’t taught important pieces of these areas and consequently you lack either education credentials you need or the basis to form a proper moral center. You might have been told for some reason that you didn’t need to go the Sunday school or that college was unnecessary even though you wanted to go. However, nothing was provided in its place and consequently you lack valuable tools to navigate the world. You tend to blame your failures on this aspect of neglect in your life, without assuming responsibility for correcting it yourself. If you do try, you find completing an education or establishing a religious practice an arduous task as you a difficult time grasping what you need to do to achieve these goals. Eschew gurus as this is a path you must walk alone.

Sedna in Tenth House, Sedna in Aspect to Saturn–Pluto in the tenth is much easier to have, since at least you know you are greedy power monger. Sedna in the tenth lends a tenacious need to have power but without the wisdom and foresight to wield it effectively. Worse yet, you fail to see how your clumsy attempts to wield it negatively effect the people you influence. Though this an important aspect of your life, mommy and daddy let you know in their all unsubtle ways that you wouldn’t make it anyway, so there was no need to learn how to make friends and influence people. If you do perceive your lack and try to compensate by putting together a good team of advisors, make sure they have solid credentials and clean criminal records. I’m not kidding.

Sedna in the Eleventh House, Sedna in Aspect to Uranus–You are perceived by others as not belonging to “the club.â€? Perpetually on the outside, your nose is pressed to the glass wondering what it would be like to “belong.â€? This is a dangerous and lonely place as you are not just cut from the herd but also subject to bullying and other kinds of attacks. Mom and Dad made it quite clear either in actions or words that you were “differentâ€? and of course you believed them. This was an excuse, of course, to ignore important parts of your socialization process. You weren’t allowed to go to dance class with the other girls, not allowed to go on overnights, you were home schooled and weren’t given other chances to form friends outside the family. Join clubs and take the time to get to know the people in them.

Sedna in the Twelfth House, Sedna in Aspect to Neptune–Remember Cassandra, the seeress of Trojan War fame? She was doomed to make extremely accurate predictions, but also doomed not be believed when she spoke them. Extremely psychic, you were raised in an environment that heightened your sensitivities but not given the support you needed to make sense of your perceptions. Your parents are either “head blindâ€? or openly scoff psychic abilities and consequently imparted the impression that you were off center. More likely they added to your anguish by keeping a unhealthy mental health environment as you were growing up, either fighting excessively, or allowing drugs and alcohol abuse in the home. Environments like this are damaging for most people, but devastating for the psychically attuned, having the effect of artificially ripping the abilities to levels that are difficult and painful to handle. Another curious effect of Sedna in the Twelfth is the inability of hospital personnel to make accurate diagnosis of your illnesses. Have a medical astrologer handy to diagnose troubling health issues so you can tell the medical personnel where to look.

On Monday we’ll look at Sedna stories, the real life effects of Sedna in people’s lives.
