The Consulting Astrologer: Some Questions We Just Can’t (Or Won’t) Answer

by Beth Turnage

October 8, 2008

In the email box came this question:

[complete birth data] MY GOD SON. ANY HEALTH, CAREER, INFO TO GUIDE HIM
WOULD BE APPRECIATED.

MY FRIEND SAYS SOMETHING CATOSTROPHIC WILL HAPPEN WORLD WIDE ON OR ABOUT OCT.14, 2008……DO YOU HAVE ANY INPUT OR A CHART(WHEEL) FOR THIS DATE?

THX…D.D.

So what is an astrologer to do? First, I don’t answer questions about a third party without their permission. Its an invasion of privacy. Not to say I didn’t used to, but after wrestling with the question, I came down on the conservative side of the issue. So please don’t ask.

Second, the ambiguous question of “something” catastrophic will happen “world wide.” Are you talking the “End of the World” here, because I just don’t see it. And I wouldn’t. People have been talking about the “End of the World” for forever, and it just hasn’t happened yet, despite all the Universe’s best shots. I’m not an “End Times” kind of girl, I don’t believe that God is laying in wait to destroy some of his/her best creations for some twisted version of “Divine Justice”. And please don’t tell me I am going to Hell for my beliefs. A family member told that to my children years ago, so I taught them about the fallacy of hell, so they wouldn’t have to worry about their mother.

There are people who challenge prognosticators with the idea that if prediction were possible we would all be able to predict world events. Let me disabuse you of that notion.

I’ve been making predictions since I was twelve, via tarot cards, so I think I have a fairly good grasp of the mechanics of how they are made. First, you need to divorce yourself from your preconceptions about any event. Your own prejudices about a matter must be set aside. This is tricky, because eventually you will have to put your impressions to people, places and things in context. Ojectivity is essential. Second, you must be in some way attracted to the energy of the event. Third, and with astrology, a chart of a day in and of itself applies to the entire day for every human on the planet. You need to compare it to something to make a relevant statement about it, even it is just a location and a time frame. This is what I did when I wrote about the two women lost in Alaska and I told all of you that the women were just lost, not dead as some feared, which was proved to be true.

And lastly, for the purposes of this column, please don’t ask for a general reading. A good general reading takes hours worth of work, and you and this network isn’t paying me my going rate for that. Please ask one question, about you and I’ll do my best. Oh, and don’t ask me when you are going to die. As I found out personally, apparently, some of us have multiple check out points where our souls make the decision when to cross over. That darn free will thing again.

If any of you want to make your predictions on October 14, 2008, fire away.

If you have a question you would like answered on these pages, send your question, birth time, birth date and birth place to starrynightastro@aol.com.

  1. Warren Says:

I personally have not heard of anything catastrophic happening on Oct 14. I have heard of a prediction that there are supposed to be a world wide sightings of UFO’s. We’ll see whether this comes to pass, or comes to being. The Addy for this article is; http://world-news-live.blogspot.com/2008/10/blossom-goodchilds-predicted-mass-ufo.html for those who may be interested in reading more about it.

    Take Care,

  2. Warren Says:

    Hi Beth,

In the last paragraph of this article you spoke of multiple check out times in reference to passing over. I can only speak for myself in this matter when I say that is true. Twice in this life I have had the chance to cross over or stay. Being the stubborn goat that I am, you can see that I decided to stay.

    Take Care,

    Warren
