The Need to Know Basis
January 4, 2007

Astrology for the Week of January 4 to January 10, 2008
The big boys are at it again, slugging it out for domination. Pluto and Jupiter double team a sly and swift Mars in Gemini as words are bandied about as weapons. Meanwhile in ring number two, the planet of “how we’ve always done it Saturn dukes it out with change master, Uranus. This pair of polarized positions mirrors our collective schizophrenia as we struggle to find new ways to hold on to what we have.
As this scenario plays out in everything from personal finances to national politics it is quite clear we have no clue as to how to resolve our issues. Let’s be honest here. We know we have to curb global warming but continue to consume green house gas producing products at a prodigious rate. We know we need new leadership, but continue to stir up the same bitter gruel of partisan politics that keeps us from making logical choices. You know you need to adjust your diet and lose those ten to twenty pounds but continue to buy daily your sugar laden latte at Dunkin Donuts.
How can we free ourselves from our dysfunction? The answer is in the planetoid Chiron as the bridge the bridge between Saturn and Uranus. Chiron takes us from our earthbound existence to the freedom of finding our sacred mission, our true selves. Barbara Hand Clow describes Chiron is the path of the sacred warrior, protector of the feminine hearth and representing the mastery of skills.
But Chiron is making the stress aspect (inconjunct) to task master Saturn. We find it difficult to take Chiron’s transmutive energy and make it real within ourselves. The inconjunct is not called the seesaw aspect for nothing. While trying to resolve Pushmepullyou energies of the inconjunct, we swing wildly from one polarity to the other.
The way of out of this maze of indecision is first charting a definitive course. We need to plumb the depths of our souls and throw out those things that no longer work for us. Pluto does this, dissolving the illusions in which we wrap ourselves. Then we are left with
The next step is faith, represented by Jupiter. Here we have to trust in that the course we decide on is the right one though we can’t see the final result. It is like the Tarot card “The Fool who stands at the beginning and the end of the tarot deck, the alpha and the omega, blithely ready to step over the precipice.
In times past, the path of spiritual initiation was an individual process, done on a sort of need to know basis. Now we all need to know. Through Chiron’s inconjunct to Saturun, whether we choose it or not, we are on a collective journey of spiritual awareness, the path of the sacred warrior.
In the coming week:
Aries, Leo and Sagittarius, the things you like best are the things you’ve done in the past. As a group you love the high life and you tend to go overboard in anything you. Take care that your antics don’t lead you into financial hot water.
Capricorn, Cancer, Gemini and Libra– a war of words could leave you smarting. Keep a lid on smart remarks and delay serious talks for a better time. Sometimes you have take a few hits to stay in the game.
Pisces and Virgo–. Your sense of values are tested. You can end up doubting yourself unless you come to the realization that what you want is not necessarily what you get.
Aquarius–you can make incredibly bold changes or you can sit on your heels and complain you don’t know what to do. Really, Aquarius, even you can see the forest for trees if you look hard enough.
Taurus and Scorpio-Let the sun shine in Taurus, as you have the opportunity to do what you want without sturm and drang the other signs are experiencing. This is your time to dance to the tune of your choosing.
