The Part the Part of Fortune Played on Super Tuesday

by Beth Turnage

February 6, 2008
HillaryBarak Obama was said to have narrowed Hillary Clinton’s lead in the polls to single digits, but Super Tuesday results proved the political analysts wrong yet again. Though Obama had his share of victories, Clinton’s clinching of California’s ballots put her way over Obama in total votes from the public. With Obama touted as Mr. Personality, why did Clinton’s star outshine Obama’s ?
ObamaThe most most striking and easily identifiable factor in the charts of Mrs. Clinton and Mr. Obama is their Part of Fortune. Robert Hand writes this about the Part of Fortune:

The Part of Fortune is not so well placed if it is in a sign with malefics, especially if the malefics are debilitated. Squares, oppositions, and conjunctions with malefics are also not considered to be very good. As a modern astrologer I would have to say that such indications do not mean poverty or bad health so much as they mean that the native will have to work harder or has a narrower range of possible routes to success. But given those two considerations, the results can still be very positive.

While he was talking about the Part of Fortune as it operates within the birth chart, it is interesting to note that the charts of both candidates by transit, that is, as the planets are moving in the sky right now, show some very interesting results. Hillary has a Part of Fortune, that is roughly at three degrees of Aquarius, while Barak’s Part of Fortune is at five degrees of Virgo. At the time of the primaries, the Moon which signifies the public and public opinion was in the new moon phases in the sign of Aquarius.

Aquarius is about the new and unexpected, the cutting edge and change. As a telling representation of this symbol, Clinton carried the Hispanic vote in California and New Mexico. For those voters, Hillary was seen as the change agent.

By contrast, Barak’s Part of Fortune is hampered by transit one of those grand old “malefics”, Saturn. Saturn restricts and places burdens. Barak must be feeling it too, since he spent two million more dollars in campaign advertising than Hillary, without her results.

Not even a wide (by orb) trine with transiting Pluto helps out the stressed Part of Fortune in Barak’s chart. Many astrologer’s give a very small orb , that is the degrees away from a planet or a point, to Arabian parts, not more than one or two degrees, which will not happen for Barak until 2010, too late to help him here.

Of course, this is not to say that Barak doesn’t still have a shot at the nomination. By virtue of how the delegates are apportioned by Democratic party rules, Hillary and Barak are predicted (because the tally is not yet final) to come up virtually equal in delegate votes.

And lest you think that all this is Monday morning quarterbacking, this astrologer’s prediction for the ultimate outcome of the Democratic nomination was posted previously.

Paper ballots. Stored and counted in public.
Let’s take the doubt out of democracy.
