The Stars Ask “What is Real”?

Astrology for the Week of July 27 through August 2

The upcoming full moon throws a spotlight on the opposition of Saturn and Neptune in the heavens. While we like to call all the planets from Saturn on out to Pluto “impersonal planets nothing can be further from the truth when they hit a personal part of your chart.
For the past couple years this duo has been reigning our parades, bouncing us back and forth from reality to unreality. This fearsome twosome is like the bully who pulls up our arms behind our backs and yanks until we call “uncle, then laughs at us for our weakness.

Saturn represents the real, the practical, the necessities of life, and our responsibilities to others. Neptune represents our dreams, illusions and delusions. These two in the tension of an opposition work in concert to melt the concept of reality. As structures that we’ve come to rely on dissolve by our realizations that they just don’t work, whether they be our jobs, or our marriages or our friendships, we are forced to construct our own reality, recognize our own strengths, and our own value. Our lesson is to differentiate what is real from the illusions that we use to shield ourselves from life.

Especially hit with this lesson are the fixed signs, Taurus, Leo, Scorpio and Aquarius, who have been tasked to examine how their rigid viewpoints have hurt rather than helped them. One Taurus man I know lost his job because he was unable to be flexible in dealing with his coworkers. Another Taurus, a woman, who hurt her back, preventing her from teaching her fitness class. She realized during her recuperation that she had taken on too many classes and scaled them back. A twenty something Scorpio, I know, was forced out the family home “for his own growth. An Aquarian, a woman, has had to examine how badly her current job situation fits her personal goals.

If you find yourself in a similar situation you should consider whether or not you have your ascendant, or personal planets in a fixed sign. If your ascendant is in a fixed sign, you will examining hard your body image, your Mercury, how you communicate with others, your Venus, your personal value system and how you make money, and your Mars, your survival skills. Remember, you can always go to Astrodienst to get a free copy of your chart, barring, of course, the lack of personal astrologer to talk to.

This week:

Aquarius, Taurus, Leo and Scorpio face the question “What is real? While you work on sorting through what serves you and what doesn’t remember to try to act kindly, no matter how much it pains, to those around you.

Sagittarius, party hearty as your Sun makes a fortunate connection to the Leo sun. Word of advice, if you want to shine at work, this is your chance. Don’t slack to catch your back.

Virgo, taking on extra work is no burden to you now. It makes you feel useful and they is no heaven to Virgo compared to that.

Pisces, dream pretty dreams and put them in your journal. You may be able to use them to plot your way to fame and fortune, or just write a good fairy tale.

Cancer and Capricorn and Gemini, you are having a hard time making your point of view understood, It isn’t some much the messenger as the message. Perhaps you should wait for better stars to make your point.

Libra and Aries, waiting on other’s replies is a real drag. Neither of you appreciate being ignored, Take your darling selves out and bask in the glow of the sun above, if you can’t bask in the glow of another’s attention.

“Our lesson is to differentiate what is real from the illusions that we use to shield ourselves from life.”

This seems to be an eternal task for me, as a Scorpio. Is there really a way to reach a sort of equilibrium? Or is revelation/understanding only born of discord? Can realization come without the pain of losing something first?

  2. Beth Turnage Says:

In “Conversations with God” the author was quite surprised to learn that nothing is required of us by God. We are not required to learn our lessons through pain and anguish to prove ourselves worthy of spiritual attainment.

That being said, form, structure and attachments give us a platform to support our personalities and our lives. Hopefully, our forms, structures and attachement help us to live product and fullfilling lives. It is when those they fail to support us that we feel pain, loss, and sometimes, betrayal.

As the fixed water sign Scorpio you have a finely honed sense of the impermanance of life and seek to control that impermanance by controlling as many aspects of your life as possible. This strategy ultimately fails, because the nature of the Universe is change.

The goal for all Scorpios is transformation, not of those things and people around you to suit your needs, but your self. The Scorpionic tranformative process is brutal, since it requires that you tear yourself down to the foundations before you can build again.

Can you do this without the pain of losing something first? If you have a firm hold on the Spiritual path, it is possible, but it is also rare. Even Jesus had his moment of personal anguish in the Garden of Gethsemane.
