The Zodiac Compass: Where are You Going?

compass.pngOne of the curious oddities of the zodiac wheel is that the orientation of the compass points is opposite than what we expect. North is at the bottom of the wheel, South is at the top, East is on the left and West is on the right. It is as if we were looking at the zodiac wheel from a vantage point above the earth, looking down. Now to be sure, there is no up or down, bottom or top in space. One orientation is as good as the other as long as you are consistent. This astrologer has no references as to why we read the chart the way we do, so if another, wiser astrologer has this answer, please fire away.

In the meantime, from a spiritual astrologer’s perspective, we live our lives from the chart we select before we incarnate. Perhaps this is one reason why we read the charts the way we do. The chart reminds us that these set of circumstances are what we chose for ourselves before we came to earth. It teases out the thoughts we had about it before we dove in to materiality. Is this lesson to hard? Will I go too easy on myself in this circumstance? Is that relationship worth the pain I will experience? What do I need to do differently?

Admittedly, most people do not have these kinds of conversations with themselves, yet. But with the new dwarf planets discovered, and their meanings unearthed, we will all be much more conscious of our spiritual missions. Quaoar gives us the ability to manifest our desires without the assist of priests, shamans or magical practices. Sedna makes us aware of our blindspots, the things that limit our ultimate transformations. Eris, I suspect, gives us the ability live as gods and goddesses in our right, answering to no authority.

Though we still have much work to do on these new points in our charts, it really benefits us to start looking in on our charts from a heavenly vantage point and start figuring out on this compass where we are going.

For the upcoming week–

Virgo and Pisces–your energies are scattered as you are stretched in two directions. Practical Virgo has the wild hair to daydream, while normally detached Pisces tries to accomplish something. Find the balance between nourishing your inner needs while sustaining your earthly body.

Cancer and Capricorn–you explore the dark side of power grabbing. Cancer usually doesn’t give a hoot, but this week and for a long time to come, your tradional role as protector of the family is embellished by securing your family’s needs by acquiring power. Capricorn is forced to the other side, as family concerns override the need for career growth.

Aries, Sagittarius, Gemini, and Libra find yourselves in a situation where nothing is quite right but nothing is quite wrong either. This is because the former week’s emphasis on your element’s energy, air has dissipated. While you are trying to find your footing, you might explore how you want things to be in your life. When the energy pushes into Aries, next week, things are going to heat up for your.

Leo, Scorpio and Taurus and Aquarius–that extra helping of workplace responsibility is merely a reminder that what worked in the past isn’t necessarily going to work in the future. Look hard at what the long term goals of your employer are. They may be different than you think.
