Since childhood, you are told that if you work hard and are a good citizen of your community you will be rewarded with financial stability. People who lose their homes do it through financial imprudence. Poor people are poor because they make bad choices. In other words, people going through financial hard times have only themselves to blame. Though not the point of this book, Time and Money illustrates the utter foolishness of this view. With a combination of astrological techniques and sound economic history and theory, Barbara shows us the natural cycles of economic growth and recession and the reasons for it.

Barbara tells us what our economic leaders do not, that our money supply is an artifical construction, grossly inflated by the amount of credit that is put out by financial institutions. She explains how the economy works by controlling the money supply and why the flow of money is cyclic. Once you read this book you’ll understand why the rich get richer, while the poor get poorer.

One of the things I love about this book is how she explains the economic consequences of policy decisions of governments. For instance, Barbara says:

The govenment borrows from the future not only in great sums but over a very long period of time. The numbers rise before the genuine wealth manifests itself. Politicians point to increasing numbers in the GNP and increasing paychecks. They blame this government induced inflation on greedy capitalists, greedy workers and OPEC. Inflation has one major source in modern economy–government debt.

Now a days many of us recognize the truth of this statement, but written in 1991 this was near economic heresy. It was the Clinton administration that single handedly stabilized the economy by balancing the budget and projecting a budget surplus. The price of comsumables was steady, the stock market showed regular gains, and the little guy could afford to buy a home. Now, with the govenrnment debt at record levels, the economy has fallen fast into an undeclared recession, good paying jobs have dried up, the middle class is sliding into the lower class, money is tight and the working man is losing his home.

If you can dig up a copy of this out-of-print title, I suggest you do so. Whether or not you have a knowlege of astrology it will give you enough information to help you plot your own financial future. God only knows, the government is going to it for us.

Casual readers and the beginning astrology student might find the astrology a bit hard to follow, but it is invaluable to the intermediate and advanced students, as well as to the professional.
