What is astrology? How can it be classified? Here is some information that presents several different points of view. Look at them and decide for yourself where you would place astrology. Send your answers to my email and you become eligible to win one to the prizes listed below.

Skeptics call astrology a psuedoscience. Here, the Astronomical Society of the Pacific claims to have the means to prove it.
Astronomical Psuedoscience.

The erudite Rob Hand, one of Astrology’s foremost authors and teachers, uses Aristotlian logic to explain why Astrology is a science in a clip of this Kepler University class lecture.

And here is a piece that I first saw on Elsa’s Top Ten Sources of Astrology that pokes at bit at why some science theories are considered of more value than a method that that has thousands of years of observations under its belt.

Puntocracy

Essay question: Is astrology a science, a meta science or a psuedo science? Explain your reasons. This question counts as a 75% of your total grade score.

Question 2: Who or what is Psicops and what do they have with astrology? (Hint, do some internet research if you don’t know the answer [12.5% of your grade score])

Question 3: What problem did some Psicops members have when trying to disprove astrology? What did they do about it? (12.5% of your total grade score)

Extra Credit

Question 3:Beside the activity in question 3, what questionable activity do some Psicop members engage in to present their point? (Hint: there is a post on this blog that points to that activity.)

Besides some gold stars, the person who gets the highest score can get, if they want, a free astrology mini-reading from me. About a page in length, I will answer one question on the basis of your birth date, place and time. Or you can get a six month computer generated transit report. For the skeptics, I’ll mail you my read once copy of Astrology:True or False (still a skeptics classic) since I am so done with that book.

You have one week to complete this take home essay quiz. I’ll post the best answers a week from tomorrow.

Send your answers to starrynightastro@aol.com along with your birthday, birth place and birth time. No names will be published.
