Weekly Forecast: Your Aquarius Problem

Chiron_1Chiron is a large chunk of dirty ice whose orbit lays between Saturn and Uranus. Discovered in 1977, this asteroid upended the astrological world with its gut wrenching symbolism. In Greek mythology, Chiron is the half brother of the king of the gods himself, Zeus. The child of a rape, his mother rejected him because of his half beast form. Chiron raised himself, becoming learned in many arts, including the healing arts, and many Greek heroes were foster sons of the Centaur. Immortal by nature, Chiron gave up his life when he suffered an excruciatingly painful wound that would not heal.

Chiron’s position in our chart area of intense hypersensitivity that pries away at the defensive layers we build around our self awareness. We build these layers so that we can go about the business of living without being too fearful of the outcome. But too many of these “bandages can keep us from moving forward in our development. We can get stuck, in a life role, or a job, or a marriage in which does not serve our need to grow as a individual. We get stuck, so to speak, in our Saturn, the planet of form and structure. The next leap, without Chiron, is Uranus, the planet of our individuality, where we are to discover our unique nature. This is quite a leap for most people. Chiron appeared as the emissary to help bridge the two energies.

Chiron can be a difficult to beast to handle on his own. It is often hard for us to understand how something that we feel as pain can ultimately benefit us. Our physical selves, our own animal form, learned at an early age to avoid pain and discomfort. Most of our bargains with our environment are based on our body’s responses to pain. Our emotional bodies, which translates the physical sensation to an emotional reaction, follows suit, trying in it own way to avoid the discomfort of emotional pain. But often the only way we learn is through pain and its opposite pleasure. Chiron sits there as the burr under our saddle to remind us there are things yet to be learned.

Chiron is now traveling in the sign of Aquarius and has since February of 2005. Chiron here should have stirred up all sorts of Aquarius issues for us. Aquarius talks specifically about being an individual with the community, to bring your individual gifts to bear and share with the group to which you belong.

This current Mercury retrograde period is kicking these issues up a notch. During the two eclipses in February , one solar and one lunar, Chiron was part of a stellium of planets in running nearly the full range of the 30 degrees of Aquarius. Mars was in Gemini at the time. Now Mercury in Gemini. Since the effects of a an eclipse can be activated anytime during the six months after these events, Mercury in Gemini retrograde is calling us to examine in a thinking way our role in society. Does our role suit us? Are we serving our community the best way we can? Where are our talents needed?

With Mercury going direct on June nineteenth, we might have to do something about all these thoughts rattling around in our brain.

So where is your Aquarius and what are you doing about it?

For the upcoming week:

Aries, Leo and Sagittarius –you find for the first time in months that not only do you have the energy but the power as well to effect some changes in your life. Whether or not those choices are wise ones is the question. If is best not to pit your desires against the stability of your home, or through wild hair of an idea. Other than that you have carte blanche, have fun!

Gemini, Libra and Aquarius–you have a yearning to break free, though without a clear idea of where you want to go. You are almost like a power boat with a broken rudder, you go, go, go but in circles. Going this you might smack into reality, which might not be such a bad thing. Dig into some solutions that worked in the past and see if they might be applied to today’s problems.

Cancer, Scorpio and Pisces–thank gawd that Mercury has turned direct because this little planet has been nothing but a source of irritation. Now that the channels of communication have cleared up you have some issues to clear up concerning your day to day activities. Go over your credit card bills and other obligations to make sure all the i’s are dotted and the t’s are crossed.

Taurus, Virgo and Capricorn–Things have shifted a bit and the pace has picked up. But you are still on top of things, as usual. If your email is a bit overfilled, its because other people have issues that they want to pawn off on you. You have every right to tell them “I appreciate it that you want my advice. Here is the way I would handle it.â€? See, isn’t that a nicer way to blow them off?
