Your Personal Planets and You

There is more to you than your Sun sign. All the planets in the solar system have something to say about how feel and react to life.

The sun, the moon and the ascendant from the “Big Three of Personality, the framework of the human network. Knowing just these things gives you a big advantage in dealing with your sweetie, and other important people in your life.

To find the position of the personal planets in your chart, go here. A few quick questions, and you’ll have a handy list of the planets and the house cusps in their signs. Or you can go to Astrodienst to get a free copy of your chart.

The moon, though not a planet, for the purposes of astrology is given the weight of one. The moon is the second most significant factor in your chart beside your sun sign. The sign the moon was in at the time of your birth describes how you feel when you encounter emotional situations. It is said to be the essential part of your soul that comes over in this lifetime from past lifetimes. As such, it marks emotional responses from events that happened in the past. For instance, with a moon in Aries, you react in an immediate and warrior like fashion to incidents that stir your emotions. Often this is our soft underbelly, the part we tend to protect the most. When we experience an extreme emotional reaction, we say we were hit in the gut. This is most appropriate, since Cancer, the sign of the moon, rules ailments that have to do with the intestines.

The ascendant, again, not a planet, it the zodiac sign on the horizon at the time of your birth. The ascendant governs the first impression you give when you meet someone. This is way it is difficult to guess someone’s sun sign just by speaking with them Until they open up to you and reveal the inner most parts of theri personality to you, all you see is the public persona. The ascendant will also generally describe the body type and some physical features. For instance, I have yet to meet the person with a button nose when they have the sign Sagittarius on the ascendant. Usually, these folks have a longish nose and a face longer than is wide.

MercuryPlanet.jpg

Mercury describes your thinking processes and your communication skills. The interaction between the sun and mercury gives you a very good clue about how well you come across. For instance, when the sun is square or opposite mercury, you have a difficult time espressing yourself. Reading and writiing skills are only won after much difficulty and at times you feel less intelligent than the people around you.

VenusPicture.jpg

Venus describes who and what you love, your personal value system and how you feel about money. A good look at your Venus tells you what it is you value and how you work to achieve your goals. The type of person you love to love is represented by the Goddess of Love. If someone’s sun or moon falls on your Venus, you fall for them.

MarsPlanet.jpg

Mars tells you how you protect yourself and your method of survival. When someone threatens you, your response comes from your mars It also describes what you find sexy in another person. If your mars falls on someone’s venus position, they can’t wait to get you in the sack.

In the next few weeks, we’ll be exploring how the different zodiac signs color the expression of these planets in your chart.
